A cafe chain invented the day, offering one free smoothie to flip flop-wearing customers. The day helps to raise cash for a camp that offers respite to children with life-threatening illnesses.

It’s a common misconception that driving in flip flops is against the law. However, it’s legal providing you feel properly in control of the brake, clutch and gas.

The Highway Code frowns upon driving in flip flops. Its website points to an elderly driver who ended up parking his vehicle in a Californian swimming pool. This happened after he got his flip flop trapped below his gas pedal driving from his garage.
