Taking a closer look
Carmoola teamed up with top colour psychologist Karen Haller to examine the personality traits of drivers who own motors in the top ten most popular shades including white, black, silver and grey.
From this, 14 personas were then created for drivers.
- Red: Chili Pepper
If you have a red car, you’re likely to be confident, live life in the fast lane, and be spontaneous.
- Grey: The Owl
You don’t like to be in the spotlight, you prefer not to be noticed and you’re the complete opposite of those who drive red cars.
- Black: The Bouncer
You’re a figure of authority and like being in control. You’re a perfectionist, you don’t like to compromise, and you exude glamour.
- Silver: The Heron
You’re serene, calm and prefer the finer things in life.
- Yellow: The Canary
Life is all about sunshine, happiness, and smiles for you. You’re cheerful and have an upbeat, optimistic attitude.
- Gold: The Griffin
You’re confident and like to show off your prized possessions.
- White: The Polar Bear
You prefer to be detached from the noise and chaos of the outside world and seek calmness.
- Light blue: The Dolphin
You’re approachable, mentally calm, and always positive.
- Dark blue: The Constable
You like to share knowledge with others and are logical and rational.
- Orange: The Pumpkin
Life is all about joy, fun and playfulness for you. You’re sociable and like doing exciting things.
- Green: Scots Pine
You’re nostalgic or likely to be retired and enjoying your new life and freedom.
- Lime green: The Kiwi
You’re young (or young at heart), full of energy and are all about new beginnings.
- Brown: The Summer House
You’re a stable, reliable, and dependable person.
- Pink: The Candyfloss
Sweet, compassionate, caring, very nurturing and are always putting others first.
The bigger picture
Karen Haller said: “We have an emotional response and react to colour every waking moment. Colour can change how we think, feel, and behave in an instant!
“The colours we choose to surround ourselves can help support how we feel, how we want to feel or how we want others to perceive us.”
Aidan Rushby, CEO of car financing app Carmoola, added: “Buying a new car is one of life’s greatest pleasures and the colour of the vehicle is clearly going to play a part in that.”
